Tapping a Pokémon with the stylus will cause it to jump, with Pokémon tapped just before jumping a hurdle gaining a speed boost.
Pokémon that have a speed boost will have a blue wind tunnel appear around them.
The boosts stack, and a Pokémon that gets four such boosts will have its wind tunnel turn red; this indicates the maximum possible speed boost.
The boost lasts until the Pokémon either crashes into a hurdle or finishes the course.
It is even possible for a Pokémon to bounce off a hurdle when it would ordinarily crash-land by tapping the Pokémon the instant it touches the hurdle — in this manner, it is not slowed down and may even get a speed boost.
Once all Pokémon have crossed the finish line, the event is over, and the finish times for the three Pokémon are added together to obtain a total time for each team.
Scoring a total time of 100 seconds or less will give the player the 1st place record for the event, and scoring 80 seconds or less will give the player a Potential trophy.

The Hurdle Dash appears as the first course in the Speed competition and as the final course in the Jump competition.
Pokémon compete by tackling each other, trying to knock opponents out of the ring while staying in the ring themselves.
One Pokémon is controlled at a time.
Flicking the stylus will cause the Pokémon to do a tackle in that direction.
If it hits an opponent, the opponent is pushed back some distance, which is determined by the tackler's Power stat, the opponent's Stamina stat, and the opponent's fatigue level.
Tapping the Pokémon with the stylus will cause it to jump in place, with little lateral movement, but if it lands on an opponent the opponent is launched quite far.
Pokémon also get fatigued when they are hit by tackles, which decreases their resistance to launching.
A Pokémon who is very fatigued will start to sweat, and a Pokémon who is extremely fatigued will faint, becoming immobile and losing a great deal of launch resistance for a few seconds.
Pokémon can be switched out, but only when the Pokémon is near the team's starting corner.
Pokémon who are switched out gradually have their fatigue restored.
When a Pokémon falls off the ring or is switched out, the next Pokémon takes its place, spawning in the team's corner.
If a Pokémon has just spawned, it is immune to any form of contact with opposing Pokémon until either 2 seconds pass or it moves.
This event lasts for 60 seconds.
Teams earn points by landing tackles and jumps, and by knocking opponents out of the ring.
A tackle that hits a Pokémon earns 1 point, and a jump that lands on a Pokémon earns 2 points.
An additional 10 points are scored if the attack knocked the opponent out of the ring.
No points are deducted if a Pokémon is knocked out of the ring by an opponent, but if a Pokémon throws itself out of the ring, its team is penalised 10 points to a minimum of 0.
A score of 70 earns the player the 1st place event record, and a score of 100 earns the player a Potential trophy.
The score from these results is then multiplied by 1.
A player may not earn more than 200 Athlete Points even if they scored more than 134.

If the snowball hits an opponent, the hit counter increases by one, and the opponent's fatigue goes up.
Larger snowballs can be made by tapping multiple times before throwing; these do not give additional points, but fatigue opponents more if they hit.
If a Pokémon's fatigue gets too high, it will faint, making it unable to do anything for a few seconds.
Any snowballs that collide with each other destroy each other, regardless of size.

Scoring is determined by the number of snowballs that make contact with the opponent's Pokémon.

All three Pokémon are controlled simultaneously.
The player must drag the Pokémon down to the bottom of the screen with the stylus, then release to catapult it high into the air, where lamps shine.
A lamp that is touched is put out and cannot be scored from again for a while; all lamps are re-lit every 8 seconds.
The danger in this event comes not from opponents, but from the player's own Pokémon — if two Pokémon collide either in midair or on the groundthey are both stunned and cannot jump for several seconds, though they can still touch lamps if already in midair.
Pokémon with an extremely high Jump stat that are launched very high may bounce again automatically after their first jump, though this counts as a separate jump for scoring purposes.

A set of obstacles will be randomly placed on the track that the Pokémon must avoid.
These obstacles are always placed such that a Pokémon never has a clear, perfectly straight path from one lap to the next.
Small patches of rocks will greatly slow any Pokémon that crosses them, and Pokémon who hit the larger gray rocks will bounce backwards off them.
In addition, as a Pokémon runs, it gets fatigued.
When its fatigue is high enough, it starts to sweat and becomes much slower.
If its fatigue gets even higher, the Pokémon faints, becoming immobile for a few seconds.
Fatigue is also gained upon collision with another Pokémon, which also stuns both Pokémon for a moment, though the Pokémon in front is stunned for a shorter time and afterwards, it gets a small boost.
A Pokémon can be switched out at any time except when faintedwhich resets its fatigue and puts the next Pokémon in its place.
This event lasts for 90 seconds.
Scoring is determined by the total number of laps run.

The blocks can be broken by tapping them on the touchscreen, with the Power stat determining the number of times each block must be tapped before breaking.
Breaking blocks raises a Pokémon's fatigue based on its Stamina and Skill.
Dangerously high fatigue is indicated by the "switch" button blinking red.
If a Pokémon gets too fatigued, it faints for a few seconds, during which it cannot break blocks or switch out.
Switching out a Pokémon restores its fatigue over time.
Also, each block has one or two small cracks on it.
Tapping these cracks will destroy multiple blocks at once and display a blue fist for a moment.
If the player taps multiple cracks in succession, the Pokémon will radiate a blue aura known as Tension for a while which will affect the entire team.
If even more cracks are tapped, the aura will turn red, indicating that Tension has maxed out and the selected Pokémon has entered into High Tension mode.
During High Tension mode, the Pokémon no longer gains fatigue and is now capable of destroying multiple blocks per hit until it switches out or a limited amount of time has passed after which the Pokémon immediately has high fatigue.
This event lasts for 30 seconds.
Score is determined directly by the number of blocks broken.
Breaking 80 blocks earns the player the 1st place event record, and breaking 130 blocks earns the player a Potential trophy.
Athlete Points for the event are simply equal to the number of blocks broken.

After collecting flags, the Pokémon must return to the start area to tag off the next Pokémon and deposit their flags, which will not count towards the score unless this is done.

Pokémon can either roll the ball slowly by moving into it, or perform a Power Shot by dashing into it.
A Power Shot launches the ball farther, and being hit by a Power Shot will raise a Pokémon's fatigue depending on its Stamina, the shooter's Power, and how far the ball traveled before hitting the Pokémon.

Hey I've been looking a bit more into speedrunning the Gen 1 pokemon games and had a few basic questions that weren't answered on pokemonspeedruns.
The glitchy categories seem the most interesting, but they seem menu intensive.
Thanks in advance for any advice I can get!
Pokemon Stadium Dodrio tower has funky effects with dsum, so we dont recommend it.
Both games are identical otherwise, so a TAS of red and a TAS ob blue would be the same time.
For NSC and 151 we use blue because abra is less coins, saving about 30 seconds.
In 151 several of the version exclusives are easier to 100 bonus pokemon gold speed run in blue than in red so blue 151 is about 2 minutes faster then red 151.
Yellow is just an entirely different game.
Thanks for the fast reply!
GunnerManiac3 has me interested in the less glitched categories and I figured I'd try them out and see what I like best.
I'll have to pick up a gamecube and gameboy player I suppose then, I have the original carts and I think I can pick that stuff up from my local game shop.
I already have the capture equipment and think it may be a fun idea to stream my progress with learning, and possibly start a video series teaching people how to get into speedrunning.
Pokemon slot 100 be a good start for that anyway.
Emulator is probably best for practicing some things but since pokemon isn't entirely timing based I don't think save states will help that much, but just in case do you recommend any good emulators with proper timing?
Ah glad to hear you enjoyed my run.
Glitched and glitchless are very different so be sure click try them both to see which you like more.
Regarding the emulator you can check the Emulator tab on the PSR Wiki page we recommend Gambatte for gens 1-2 as it is 100% accurate to consoles I suggest using using gambatte + several save states when you're starting out.
My 1st 100 bonus pokemon gold speed run runs I went through the game making save states before all the hard parts so that I could emulate having a deathless run.
Thanks a million and I'm glad you guys are doing such a good job with this community!
I've bookmarked the guide you posted and I'll post up my progress.
Do you stream on twitch or anything by chance?
I haven't had a chance to catch you if you do.
I run on it.
The cpu has the correct clock speed as opposed to the original SGB.
It's basically a gameboy player just 100 bonus pokemon gold speed run the snes.
Other GB game communities allow the SBG2.
I did some research and I haven't found anything that forbids speedruns on Super Game Boy 2 looked up pokemonspeedruns and speedrun.
My guess is that he is just not aware of it that Super Gameboy 2 is running at correct framerate and assumed that it is as faulty as the original Super Gameboy.
I have 100 bonus pokemon gold speed run asked in the speedrun.
There is no reason to not allow runs on Super Gameboy 2.
Speedrunning is a play-through of a video game performed with the intent of completing a goal as fast as possible.

At that point he will then give 100 bonus pokemon gold speed run the diploma.
When he asks you if you are in a hurry, say no and watch him catch a Weedle.
After that, fly to Fuschia City and head from south there and surf to Seafoam Island.
Surf up and down the beach until you find a Missingno.
Do NOT catch him doing so may crash your game.
Kill him or run away.
Repeat the process, but this time keep surfing along the beach of Seafoam Island and wild Mewtwos should appear.
Note: multiple Mewtwos can appear, and they will have high levels.
You may also find other high level pokemon, like level 80 Golducks.
SURF up and down just off of the right opposit of left, not wrong side of the island until you find a MISSINGNO or an M-BLOCK.
DO NOT CATCH THEM!!!
Then check your items.
The 6th slot will 100 bonus pokemon gold speed run x glitch 9.
It will go down to x0, then down to x99.
This glitch has been verified by IGN Pokemon Board Mods, so you know.
Restart your game and play until you get HM02 Fly from the house west of Celadon City or just beat the third gym and get the badge that lets you use fly out of battle and trade pokemon that know fly to the new game.
He is the fourth trainer after you cross Nugget Bridge, standing directly above a female trainer and facing north.
He is standing just east of the entrance to Saffron City, facing north toward the door of the Underground Path.
Care fully follow the series of steps illustrated below.
Make sure you have a pokemon that knows FLY.
Make sure you have a level 5 or 6 pokemon and a pokemon that knows SLEEP on your team.
Stock up with pokeballs Great Balls work the best.
Now Save your game before you enter Route 8 since saving after this point will disrupt the procedure.
On Route 8, stand in front of the door of the Underground Path don't let the gambler see you or you will need to congratulate, 100 free online slot games Prompt where you last saved.
Walk down one step and IMMEDIATELY press start.
If you succeed, the menu will pop up before the Gambler "sees" you.
Go to the Pokemon list and fly to Cerulean City.
The Gambler will see you just before you fly away.
Your Start button will no longer function.
Go north across Nugget Bridge and head east until you find the Youngster described above.
If you walk right up to the Youngster, the game will lock up, so you'll have to let him see you and walk up to you.
Defeat his Slowpoke afterwards your start button will work againthen fly to Lavender Town.
Head west into Route 8.
As soon as you enter the narrow path, the menu will pop up by itself.
Press B to exit.
Mew will be at Level 7 and its only attack will be Pound.
Once you've caught Mew, you can save without any ill effects!
NOTE: I did this on my red game and I assume it works read article the others the Pokemon Board Mods say 'Yes'.
It is well worth testing it because it is fairly easy to do but it is a little time consuming.
Submitted by Megod Yesterday, I tried this, and it worked.
Mew is in the games Pokemon Red and Blue.
I do not know if it is in Yellow however.
To get it, you start a new game and do not fight the trainer facing the underground tunnel just past Lavender Town I think it is route 8 and also do not fight the trainer with a Slowpoke who says that his dad bought him a ticket to the SS Anne or something along those lines.
Anyway, you play through the game past the 3rd gym leader and rock tunnel, then walk up to the door in front of the trainer on route 8.
Do not let him see you face the trainer.
Walk down and practically at the same time press START.
You will have had to do a bit of trading from an old game so that you do not have to go through the entire adventure.
Fly to Cerulean City and go past Nugget Bridge and beat the trainer with the slowpoke and then immediately fly back to Lavender Town.
Enter the entrance to Route 8 and your pause menu pops up.
Press B to return to the game and Mew appears.
It is at level 7 and only knows the attack Pound.
It turns out that when Nintendo made the game and programmed each pokemon into the game, Slowpoke and Mew each had the same coding at the beginning of their names.
Also, when you flew away from Route 8 before the trainer had a chance to fight you, this tricks the game into thinking there should be a fight going on in Route 8.
By entering that area, this triggers this fight but with Mew because you flew off before it occured.
The opponent is surprisingly strong though.
Try to put him to sleep and throw Great Balls.
I did this trick only last night for the first time, and it surprised me when it worked when I actually didn't think it would.
Well, it's hidden deep in Pokemon Stadium for the Nintendo 64.
Unlocking it will take a while, but it's definitely worth it.
You have to register ALL 151 Pokemon in the Hall of Fame.
Whenever you beat a tournament or Gym Leader Castleyour six Pokemon are entered into the Hall of Fame.
It doesn't matter whether you use rental Pokemon or your own, but you can't have any gaps.
Once you've filled it all up, you are awarded a free Psyduck bonus Pokemon that knows the Amnesia technique.
You can now upload it to your Game Boy pak and use it in your quest.
Use "cut" and it will cut a two by two area.
Wild Pokemon will not attack you in the area you cut.
Swim along the shore of any island and you will fight land creatures.
You have to swim on a place where the square is half land and half water.
Instead of fighting a set group of monsters in the water, you actually fight monsters from the last place you were.
So to get safari zone monsters, you need to go to the section of the safari zone with that monster, let your time run out, then go to the coast.
Using this trick I have caught Kangaskhan, Scyther, and Tauros!
Play each machine 4 times, and if it hits 2 or more, then stick with that one, because it's probably hot.
If the slow machine forces you really close to a 777 or Bar Bar Bar it will probably give you one or the other soon.
When you go into battle the Pokémon will pop out.
You can then switch to another Pokémon.
Once you win the battle the beginning Pokémon and the fighting Pokémon will both gain experience points.
Trade the Pokemon to be cloned, and have the other player select a Pokemon that he or she does not care about.
Trade them, and make sure the player receiving the bad Pokemon can see the other player's screen.
When the Game Boy that receives the good Pokemon's displays "Waiting", get ready to shut the other Game Boy off.
When the "Waiting" message disappears, turn off the Game Boy that is receiving the bad Pokemon.
When the "Trade completed" message appears, turn off the remaining Game Boy.
Both games will have the same good Pokemon when they are turned back on.
Note: Do not attempt this trick with any saved games you wish to keep, as it can corrupt those files if done incorrectly.
Now use FLY and go to Viridian City.
Talk to the old man almost all the way north of the town.
When he asks if you are in a hurry, say no and watch him catch a weedle.
Right after that, fly to Fuchsia city.
Make your way south and, when you you reach the water's edge, use SURF and make your way to Seafoam island.
When you get to seafoam island, swim up and down the beach until you run into a Pokemon called "M" Missingno.
Once you see him, kill him or run away.
DO NOT CATCH HIM!
After that, you should have multiple copies of your sixth item!
In the Indigo Plateu you find 5 pokemon masters.
Then go through victory road.
Next beat the Elite Four.
After that your Pokemon will become Hall of Famors.
Then the credits will show, following by your game resetting.
Go back to your Continued Game.
You will be back at home.
Then fly back and beat them again and again.
This helps your higher leveled Pokemon becaus you can still get a few thousand exp.
You can get these coins by walking around and pressing the A button.
In some spots you will see little gaps in the lines.
These "gapped lines" are the invisible walls.
Catch missingno in the red version may delete your old game and prevent you from saving any other games.
To get MissingNo a glitch go to Cinnabar Island and go into the Pokémon Research Labratory and trade with anyone in the first room.
Then leave the Lab and go to the EAST of Cinnabar Island and surf up and down on the part where the land meets the water.
Eventually the battle screen will come up and the screen goes black for about 5 seconds.
Once you find him I suggest you use a Level 30 to 40 Pokemon.
This is because Missing No.
So get him down pretty low.
Even at low he is still extremely difficult to catch.
So next get a Pokemon that knows a sleep move and put him to sleep.
Follow this up with a couple Ultra Balls and you should have him.
Also note that if he evolves i.
She will give you the Mimic TM.
These pokemon are well above level 100.
Unfortunately, they will revert back to Level 100 if they gain any experience points.
Rare Candy is the only thing that raises their level.
They can be used in a two-player battle without losing their level, so have fun liquidating your friends!
NOTE: This is a bug in the game.
It will not work in newer versions of Pokemon and may crash your game if you try it.
Here's how you can get it outside of winning a Nintendo Pokemon contest : Surfing Pikachu is hidden in Pokémon Stadium for the Nintendo 64.
To teach your Pikachu Surf source technique it can normally not learnyou slot aion 100 cube to first unlock the R-2 Round 2 mode.
You HAVE to use a Pikachu from your Game Boy game.
You cannot unlock Surfing Pikachu using a Rental Pokémon.
Do not register your team!
Pick it directly from your Game Boy cartridge.
Pikachu has to be in every one of the eight battles.
If you do, you won't get Surfing Pikachu.
Once you have fulfilled all the above conditions, you are shown an award screen with Pikachu standing on a surfboard.
In Pokémon Yellow, you can now also access the hidden Surfing Pikachu mini-game on Route 19.
There click here also a GameShark code that lets you access Surfing Pikachu, but we advise against using it, since it can mess up your Pokédex and save data.
It's not worth the trouble.

Each Pokemon has a DV ranging from 0 to 15 for each stat. The higher the DV, the higher the growth rate for that stat. At Level 100, the difference between 0 and 15 DV is about 30 stat points. DVs help speed runners decide which strategies to use, and they can be determined by checking my stats at certain level-ups.

Whether you want to boost the growth rate of your Pokemon or just watch the landscape change with the seasons, sometimes you need to speed up time in "Pokemon: Gold Version." The game's time system is based not on seconds or minutes, but on the number of steps you take. The best way to speed up time is to get a bicycle.

After trying a lot of tricks in various games, I suddenly got the idea to speedrun Pokemon Blue/Red. One of my favorite games. It started with a weak 2:02 using a glitched Gengar level 100 to beat the game and it grew out to be much more then that. I'll just list the comments on every segment because there are quite a lot of new tricks in the run.
